Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education.
He is a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre.
The appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on 23 July 2026, part of a reshuffle of 13 secretaries.
He succeeds Vineet Joshi, who was moved to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
He was earlier Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
