The Ministry of Textiles organised the 'Weaves of India' festival in New Delhi from 24 July to 7 August 2026.
The exhibition served as a precursor to the 12th National Handloom Day, observed annually on 7 August.
Held at the Central Cottage Industries Emporium, the event showcased 116 heritage handloom weaves from across the country.
It provided a direct platform for master weavers and artisans to interact with the public and promote authentic handwoven products.
Observed annually on 7 August to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched on this day in 1905 at the Calcutta Town Hall to protest the partition of Bengal and promote indigenous industries.
