Chhattisgarh launched the DWEEPTI Yojana in July 2026 — India's first women-led distributed renewable energy policy — to turn rural Self-Help Groups into solar entrepreneurs.
The scheme targets 5,000 women-led solar enterprises, 50,000 green jobs, clean energy for 5 lakh families, and solar solutions for 10,000 public institutions.
Kabirdham became the first implementation district; with Tata's technical support, about 35 SHG women were trained as 'Solar Didis' in rooftop solar installation and maintenance.
The scheme is implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in partnership with CSPDCL, with 13 Cluster Level Federations registered as authorised vendors.
With technical support from Tata, around 35 women from rural Self-Help Groups were trained in rooftop solar installation, system maintenance, and customer support — becoming local solar entrepreneurs and technicians in their communities.
Simple Analogy: Ordinary SHG members trained into a local, women-run solar installation and repair workforce for their own villages.
