Defence Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated nine women officers on 30 July 2026 for completing 'Samudra Pradakshina', the first-ever Tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition, on the Indian Army Sailing Vessel Triveni.
The 314-day voyage covered about 25,500 nautical miles across four oceans, flagged off virtually from the Gateway of India on 11 September 2025 and completed on 22 July 2026.
The crew rounded the Three Great Capes (Leeuwin, Horn, Good Hope) and crossed the Drake Passage, earning membership in the 'Cape Horners' fraternity; they crossed the Equator twice and the International Date Line.
