The Department of Telecommunications and the Madhya Pradesh Government signed the Phase-I MoU for India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) at Gwalior on 30 July 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The 350-acre integrated plug-and-play cluster (Phase-I: 170 acres in SADA region and Gwalior IT Park) will be run by a Special Purpose Vehicle with 51% MP Government equity and 49% DoT equity.
The zone covers mobile handsets, optical fibre, antennas, routers, satellite communication gear, and semiconductor chips, with anchor investors including Dixon Technologies, HFCL, and VVDN.
Projected investment of ₹12,000-15,000 crore is expected to generate 14,000 direct jobs (3,500+ in Phase-I), with the Centre approving ₹493 crore for the first phase.
