The first Steering Committee meeting for the 57th International Film Festival of India was held on 21 August 2026 at Kartavya Bhawan-2, New Delhi.
The 57th edition of IFFI is scheduled from 20 to 28 November 2026 in Goa.
The meeting was chaired by Dr L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, with I&B Secretary Chanchal Kumar in attendance.
IFFI is organised by the National Film Development Corporation under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with the Government of Goa and the Entertainment Society of Goa.
At the 56th edition in 2025, the Golden Peacock went to the Vietnamese film Skin of Youth and Rajinikanth received the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Orange Economy is the term used for the creative and cultural sector - film, music, animation, gaming, design, publishing and the crafts - treated as an economic sector that generates output, exports and employment rather than as culture alone. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has used the term to frame creative-industry policy, positioning events such as IFFI as trade and skills platforms as much as showcases.
Simple Analogy: If the green economy counts what nature contributes to output, the orange economy counts what imagination contributes - a film shoot is treated as a production line, and a festival as a trade fair.
