The Ministry of Rural Development launched the second phase of the National Campaign on Entrepreneurship on 21 August 2026, under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
The three-month campaign runs from 21 August to 21 November 2026 and was timed to World Entrepreneurs Day, observed on 21 August.
It targets training 5 lakh Self-Help Group women, formalising 50,000 rural enterprises, orienting 50,000 community cadres, adding 2 lakh members to producer groups and enterprises, and promoting agro-ecological practices among 20 lakh women.
It also aims to onboard 25,000 SHG members onto digital commerce platforms such as ONDC and the Government e-Marketplace, and feeds the government's target of 6 crore Lakhpati Didis.
Rohit Kansal, Secretary in the Department of Rural Development, launched the campaign and released the first issue of Sankalp Shakti, a monthly technical bulletin on rural enterprise promotion.
A Lakhpati Didi is a woman member of a Self-Help Group whose household earns at least Rs 1 lakh a year, counted on a sustained basis rather than in a single good season, from a mix of livelihood activities - farm, livestock, non-farm enterprise and wage work. The concept turned a diffuse rural-livelihoods programme into something measurable: instead of counting groups formed or loans given, the mission counts households that cross an income line. The Government's stated target is 6 crore Lakhpati Didis.
Simple Analogy: It changes the scoreboard from 'how many people we trained' to 'how many people now earn enough' - the difference between counting seeds sown and counting harvests brought in.
The flagship rural livelihoods programme, launched as the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (Aajeevika) in 2011 as a restructuring of the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, and renamed DAY-NRLM in 2015. It mobilises rural poor households into Self-Help Groups and their federations and supports them with capital, credit linkage and skills.
An open, interoperable network for digital commerce that lets buyers and sellers on different apps transact with each other; an initiative supported by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, set up as a not-for-profit company.
The national public procurement portal through which central and state government buyers purchase goods and services; launched in August 2016 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
