The U20 World Championships - long known as the Junior World Championships - are United World Wrestling's age-group world title event for wrestlers under 20, contested in three styles: men's freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's wrestling. The 2026 edition was staged in Bratislava, Slovakia from 16 to 23 August, with the three styles spread across separate days. For India the age-group circuit has become the main pipeline into senior international wrestling, and the women's team has been its strongest arm. India's second place in the women's standings, 34 points behind Japan and one point clear of China, is the better measure of depth than the medal count alone, because team points are awarded on final placings across all ten weight categories rather than on medals.
