Denmark occupies the Jutland Peninsula projecting north from Germany, plus an archipelago of more than 443 islands, and it controls the straits where the Baltic Sea meets the North Sea through the Kattegat. Germany is its only land neighbour. Sweden lies across the Oresund from Copenhagen and Norway across the Skagerrak. Greenland and the Faroe Islands, both self-governing parts of the Kingdom of Denmark, sit far away in the North Atlantic, which is what gives a small European state an Arctic footprint.
Denmark was the first country with which India signed a partnership under this name, later followed by similar green-focused arrangements with other partners.
Through Greenland and the Faroe Islands, Denmark is an Arctic Council member state, while India is an Observer at the Council.
The Danish counterpart in this dialogue is a patent office, which links the discussion to India's own National IPR Policy and the office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks.
Cluster-based development is a long-standing instrument of Indian MSME policy, which makes the Danish cluster experience directly transferable.
