India recorded its best-ever performance at the 19th International Earth Science Olympiad, held in Turin, Italy, from 20 to 27 August 2026, winning 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Students from 39 countries competed; Soumik Mandal of DAV Model School, Durgapur finished third in the overall global ranking with 2 gold and 1 silver.
Union Minister for Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh felicitated the team at Prithvi Bhawan, New Delhi.
