President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers' Awards 2026 on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Teachers' Day, 5 September 2026.
The awardees comprise 26 men and 22 women drawn from 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 central government organisations.
They were selected through a three-stage online process at district, State or organisation, and national levels.
The ceremony was organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education.
A further 21 teachers from higher education institutions and polytechnics were also honoured, taking the 2026 total to 69.
Recognise outstanding teachers within particular school systems
