India and Morocco held the first-ever meeting of their Joint Defence Committee (JDC) in New Delhi on 8 September 2026.
It was co-chaired by Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary (International Cooperation), MoD, and Brigadier General Abdellah Athmani, Chief of the 2nd Bureau of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces.
The JDC flows from the Defence Cooperation MoU signed during Rajnath Singh's September 2025 visit, the first ever by an Indian Defence Minister to Morocco.
Talks covered training, peacekeeping, exercises, military medicine, cyber defence and defence industry, including co-production and joint ventures.
The two countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.

Morocco lies in north-west Africa on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain. Its capital is Rabat; Berrechid, site of the Tata armoured-vehicle plant, is near Casablanca.
