Tripura CM Manik Saha announced on 8 September 2026 that the state's primary-level (Classes I–V) dropout rate reached zero in 2025–26, citing UDISE+ data.
The primary dropout rate was 2.21% in 2013–14; the secondary rate fell from 25.51% to 10.40% over the same period.
The announcement came at the International Literacy Day and ULLAS Mela 2026 in New Delhi.
Tripura plans Balvatikas in all 2,048 primary schools within two years, a Board of Open Schooling and Examination, and Eklavya-style residential schools.
