The National Consumer Helpline (NCH), run by the Department of Consumer Affairs, facilitated refunds of more than Rs 105 crore between 25 April 2025 and 31 July 2026.
It addressed 1,66,189 refund-related grievances across 35 sectors, all at the pre-litigation stage — that is, without consumers having to approach the Consumer Commissions.
E-commerce accounted for the largest share: 1,00,466 complaints and refunds of over Rs 74 crore, followed by Travel & Tourism at over Rs 10 crore.
Individual e-commerce refunds during May-July 2026 ranged from Rs 1 to Rs 35,83,790, and complaints came from metros as well as remote districts.
