The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), led by Chairman Kishor Makwana, received the first-ever Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar on 9 September 2026.
The award was a new category introduced at the 16th Sansad Ratna Awards in New Delhi, for organisations and individuals who serve the nation outstandingly.
The 2026 edition also honoured 12 MPs and 4 Parliamentary Committees; the jury was chaired by Hansraj G. Ahir.
The Sansad Ratna Awards were instituted in 2010 by the Chennai-based Prime Point Foundation on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's suggestion.
