Shri Bhagwat Prasad Makwana assumed charge as Chairperson of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK); the Government appointed him to the post on 6 September 2026.
He has earlier been Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Safai Karamchari Commission of Uttarakhand, an Independent Director on the NHPC board, and a Member of the Central Monitoring Committee under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.
He holds a Master's degree in Economics and has worked on the welfare and empowerment of Scheduled Caste communities.
