IFSCA, with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, held the India Ship Leasing and Financing Summit at GIFT City Club, Gandhinagar, on 10 September 2026.
Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said 38 ship lessors registered at the IFSC now lease 43 vessels with capacity past 2.99 million DWT, of which 24 fly the Indian flag.
He cited the Rs 25,000 crore Maritime Development Fund and SBFAS 2.0 as the finance behind India's shift from flag tonnage to owned and controlled tonnage.
