Amit Shah Opens India's First World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Archery Association of India's World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad through video conferencing.
•
The competition runs from 5 to 9 September 2026 with 108 athletes from 19 countries, including Bhutan, the United Kingdom, China, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Indonesia and the United States.
•
Ahmedabad will host the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and is India's proposed host city for the 2036 Olympic Games.

NAMASTE Cards Issued to Waste Pickers in Delhi's Najafgarh Zone
•
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale inaugurated the issuance of NAMASTE Cards to waste pickers of the MCD Najafgarh Zone at Matiala, Delhi.
•
Ayushman Cards were distributed alongside, extending health coverage to the same workers; more than 300 waste pickers from the zone attended.
•
NAMASTE is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment covering sewer and septic tank workers and waste pickers, aimed at ending hazardous manual cleaning.

The first batch of the Corporate Mitra Course commenced with 2,879 registered learners, and the programme's Learning Management System was launched at the ICAI head office in New Delhi.

Announced in the Union Budget 2026-27, the initiative creates certified paraprofessionals who help MSMEs manage business and regulatory compliance affordably.
•
It is delivered by ICAI, ICSI and ICoAI under the guidance of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, with technology and academic support from IIT Madras, IIT Madras Pravartak and SWAYAM Plus.

DoPPW Special Campaign 3 Redresses 2,306 Long-Pending Pension Grievances
•
The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare closed Special Campaign 3 on 31 August 2026, redressing 2,306 of the 3,193 long-pending pension cases taken up — a 72% redressal rate.
•
Of those cases, 1,062 were identified by ministries in the preparatory phase and 2,131 were drawn from grievances pending over a month on the CPENGRAMS portal.
•
Most resolved cases belonged to pensioners in rural areas who had filed online, which DoPPW reads as evidence of a narrowing digital divide.

SAIL Reports Best-Ever August Output and 13% Sales Growth

SAIL posted its best-ever August production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel in August 2026.
•
Crude steel production rose 8% to 1.68 MT, hot metal 9% to 1.78 MT and saleable steel 1% to 1.69 MT year on year; total sales grew 13% to 1.871 million tonnes.
•
Rail supplies to Indian Railways rose 5% to 1.23 lakh tonnes, with a record 1.12 lakh tonnes of long rails; borrowings were cut by Rs 870 crore from the 31 March 2026 level.

NFRA Sets Up Advisory Committee on Audit Quality, Assurance and Technology

NFRA has constituted an Advisory Committee on Audit Quality, Assurance and Technology under Rules 15 and 16 of the NFRA Rules, 2018.
•
The Committee draws on professionals, CFOs, audit committee members, independent directors, technology experts, regulators and industry, to advise on matters bearing on audit quality.
•
It is NFRA's third such body: the Technical Advisory Committee was constituted in 2020 and its term ended in December 2022, and an Advisory Group on Auditor-Audit Committee resources was constituted in July 2024.

CAQM Inspection Drive in Nuh Finds 17 of 35 Industrial Units Non-Compliant

CAQM conducted a Special Industrial Inspection Drive in Nuh district, Haryana, on 3 September 2026, deploying eight Flying Squads with the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the State administration.

Of 35 units inspected, 17 were non-compliant, 11 compliant (10 fully) and 7 closed or non-operational.
•
Violations included defective wet scrubbers, non-functional Electrostatic Precipitators, inadequate stack height, uncovered conveyor belts, non-compliant DG sets, burning of wood, unapproved boiler fuels and missing Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems.

GSLV-F17 Launches EOS-05, India's First Imaging Satellite in Geosynchronous Orbit

ISRO's GSLV-F17 launched EOS-05, described by the Prime Minister as India's first-ever imaging satellite from geosynchronous orbit.

The mission lifted off on 4 September 2026 from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota - the 19th flight of the GSLV programme.
•
EOS-05, also designated GISAT-1A, was placed in a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and raised towards the geostationary altitude of about 35,786 km by onboard apogee-motor firings.

A PIB Backgrounder sets out India's geothermal roadmap: the National Policy on Geothermal Energy, notified in September 2025, with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy as nodal ministry.

ONGC Energy Centre commissioned India's first two geothermal wells at Puga Valley, Ladakh, in July 2026 - each 1,000 metres deep, at an altitude above 14,000 feet.
•
The wells enable reservoir evaluation and pave the way for India's first 1-MW demonstration geothermal power project.
