Modi Meets Putin on BRICS Summit Margins; Accepts Invitation for 24th Annual Summit
•
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the margins of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, their second meeting of 2026 after Bishkek on 31 August on the sidelines of the 26th SCO Summit.
•
The two reviewed political, economic, defence, energy, space, skill-mobility and people-to-people cooperation, welcomed Russia's INNOPROM India exhibition held in India for the first time from 9-11 September 2026, and visited it together; they also discussed the West Asia and Black Sea conflicts affecting maritime trade and Indian seafarers.
•
President Putin invited the Prime Minister to Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit and the invitation was accepted, with dates to be fixed through diplomatic channels.

IPC Releases Enoxaparin Sodium Reference Substance at National Biosimilars Conference
•
The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission held a two-day National Conference on the quality and safety of biosimilars on 10-11 September 2026 at C-CAMP, Bengaluru, with 160 participants from regulators, industry, academia and research bodies.
•
Its main output was the release of an Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Substance for enoxaparin sodium for bioassays, an authenticated reference material for testing the drug's biological activity.
•
The conference was framed around the government's Biopharma SHAKTI vision and organised with IDMA, with BIRAC and C-CAMP as knowledge partners and KDPMA as associate partner.

DoLR Secretary Sets Out Watershed-Led Dryland Strategy at Dryland Congress 2026
•
Department of Land Resources Secretary Narendra Bhooshan told the Dryland Congress 2026 Partner Spotlight in New Delhi that India must shift from reacting to droughts to building resilient dryland landscapes through integrated watershed development.
•
He placed the Watershed Development Component of PMKSY at the centre of that shift, citing 7,602 projects over about 34 million hectares in twelve years and a benefit-cost ratio of roughly 2:1.
•
A proposed Watershed Portal is to serve as digital public infrastructure across the project lifecycle, carrying geospatial datasets so that landscape resilience, not just asset location, can be tracked.

CCESS 2026: Minister calls for integrated 'Coastal India' approach linking ecology, security and blue economy

The Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 2026 will come into force on 1 October 2026, appointed by a Gazette notification dated 10 September 2026.

Captive Coal Mines Produce 184 MT in FY 2025-26, a 10.10 Per Cent Rise

Output from captive coal mines rose from 167.44 MT in FY 2024-25 to 184 MT in FY 2025-26, a growth of 10.10 per cent.

National HPV Vaccination Campaign Crosses 80 Lakh Doses; Four States at Full Coverage

More than 80 lakh (8 million) doses of HPV vaccine have been administered under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign since its launch in February 2026.

A PIB Backgrounder marks seven years of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY), the contributory old-age pension scheme for small and marginal farmers.
