Kavach is an indigenously developed, SIL-4 (Safety Integrity Level 4) certified cab-signalling and anti-collision system designed by RDSO with Indian vendors. It combines Station Kavach, Loco Kavach, RFID tags along the track, telecom towers and Optical Fibre Cable to continuously track train position and speed. If a Loco Pilot fails to observe a speed restriction or a signal, Kavach automatically applies the brakes; it also warns of another train approaching on the same line and aids running during low-visibility fog conditions.
Simple Analogy: Like a vigilant co-pilot that watches every signal and speed limit and slams the brakes itself if the driver doesn't react in time.
