The Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, informed the Lok Sabha about the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme-2 (NAPS-2).
NAPS-2 has been implemented across India from 2022-23, succeeding the original NAPS launched in August 2016.
The scheme provides partial stipend support to apprentices via Direct Benefit Transfer under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
Third-Party Aggregators (TPAs) help mobilise apprentices and establishments, particularly MSMEs.
Under NAPS-2, the Government provides partial stipend support to apprentices engaged under the Apprentices Act, 1961, released directly via Direct Benefit Transfer. Third-Party Aggregators (TPAs) help mobilise apprentices and establishments, particularly MSMEs.
Simple Analogy: The government co-pays part of an apprentice's stipend directly into their account, encouraging more companies — especially small ones — to take on trainees.
