Nijut Moina is the scheme with the clearest policy logic and the one most likely to be examined. It is not simply an education subsidy: by paying a monthly stipend to girls who continue studying beyond higher secondary, it attaches a financial cost to dropping out, which is the point at which early marriage most often occurs. That makes it a conditional incentive aimed at a social outcome, in the same family of interventions as conditional cash transfers used elsewhere for school retention. The 2026 expansion adds two complements. Nijut Babu extends support to male students, but with an income ceiling of ₹4 lakh a year, so it is means-tested where Nijut Moina is gender-targeted — a distinction examiners can build a question around. SSP addresses a different barrier altogether: the one-time cost of study materials, which deters enrolment even when tuition is covered.
