NASA announced on 6 August 2026 that it had successfully tested a lightweight, foldable ground-penetrating radar antenna for its SkyFall Mars helicopters.

It is a fabric antenna sheathed in polyester and layers of Vectran, the same material used in the landing airbags of the Spirit and Opportunity rovers.
