The Indian Army has agreed to set up youth training centres at district headquarters across Telangana, following a meeting in Hyderabad on 12 August 2026.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Lieutenant General C. Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, and offered the state government's collaboration on recruitment drives.
The centres are meant to prepare local youth for nationwide Army recruitment through physical training, documentation guidance and awareness of recruitment procedures.
The Chief Minister also sought proactive Army involvement in rescue, evacuation and rehabilitation work in flood-affected parts of the state.
The Southern Command, headquartered at Pune, is the oldest and largest of the Indian Army's operational commands.
The oldest and largest operational command, raised in 1895; covers the southern and western peninsular states including Telangana
