The Digital India BHASHINI Division and NITI Aayog signed a Statement of Intent in New Delhi on 12 August 2026 to embed multilingual, voice-first artificial intelligence in public governance.
It was signed by Amitabh Nag, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, and Shoyabahmed Kalal, Director of NITI Aayog.
BHASHINI's language translation APIs and reference applications will be integrated across NITI Aayog's digital platforms and internal communication workflows.
Five flagship sub-programmes anchor the tie-up: BHASHINI Udyat, BHASHINI Mitra, BHASHINI AppMitra, BHASHINI Sahayogi and BHASHINI Pravakta.
BHASHINI, the National Language Translation Mission, was launched by the Prime Minister on 4 July 2022 during Digital India Week at Gandhinagar and runs under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

NITI Aayog was created by an executive resolution on 1 January 2015 as an advisory think tank; unlike the Planning Commission it does not allocate funds to states.
