Federation suspensions matter because athletes bear the cost of administrative failure. When a national body loses recognition, selection processes, funding routes and international entries all pass through an interim arrangement, and the disruption falls on competitors who had no part in the governance dispute. That is why the order does two things at once: it suspends the TTFI and simultaneously directs the Indian Olympic Association to form an ad-hoc committee, with consultation with the International Table Tennis Federation for an interim regulatory mechanism. The requirement to consult the world body is not a courtesy — international federations recognise one national body per country, and an arrangement they do not accept would leave Indian players unable to enter events. The TTFI had already faced administrative action once, with a court-related suspension reported in 2022, making this a recurring rather than isolated problem.
