The Ministry of Education has named 48 school teachers as recipients of the National Teachers Awards 2026.
President Droupadi Murmu will confer the awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 5 September 2026, which is Teachers' Day.
The 48 awardees come from 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 organisations run by the Central Government, and include 26 men and 22 women.
Selection ran through three stages - district or regional committee, State or organisation committee, and an independent national jury.
The award was instituted in 1958 and is administered by the Department of School Education and Literacy.
