The Games themselves are run by the Olympic Council of Asia, founded in 1982 and headquartered in Kuwait City. India hosted the first Asian Games in New Delhi in 1951 and again in 1982, and at the last edition, the 19th Games at Hangzhou, finished with a record 107 medals - 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze.
