UPI processed an all-time high 24.51 billion transactions worth Rs 29.82 trillion in August 2026, according to NPCI data.
Volume rose 3.6% over July and 22% over August 2025; value was 20% higher year-on-year.
It was the second consecutive month of record volumes, after 23.66 billion transactions in July.
Average daily transactions climbed to 791 million in August from 763 million in July.
Among other retail payment systems, FASTag and AePS volumes rose in August while IMPS volumes slipped.
