An F-16 of the Texas Air National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing crashed in Grand Traverse County, northern Michigan, on 17 September 2026 during a training mission from Alpena.
The pilot ejected and was in stable condition. A possible bird strike was reported, and the cause is under investigation.
Hydrazine, carried on the F-16 as an emergency power source, leaked at the site. Residents within one mile were evacuated and some responders were decontaminated.
