INS Trishul, a Talwar-class guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy, concluded a three-day port call at Alexandria Naval Base in Egypt on 17 September 2026, having arrived on 14 September.
Before entering harbour the ship carried out a passage exercise (PASSEX) with the Egyptian Naval Ship Bernees, and was escorted in by the Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer.
The crew paid homage to the fallen of the two World Wars at the Chatby War Memorial in Alexandria, and India's Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K Reddy, visited the ship.
Commissioned in 2003, INS Trishul was the first Indian warship to carry the supersonic BrahMos PJ-10 anti-ship cruise missile and the second to be fitted with an eight-cell 3S-14NE vertical launcher.
The visit sits inside a defence relationship built up since India and Egypt signed a Strategic Partnership in January 2023, the year President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was chief guest at India's Republic Day.

INS Trishul's port call at Alexandria Naval Base, Egypt
Alexandria is Egypt's principal Mediterranean port, at the western edge of the Nile delta. Egypt's value to Indian naval planning lies in the Suez Canal, which links the Mediterranean to the Red Sea and carries a large share of India-Europe trade - which is why Indian warships increasingly call at both its Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts.
