Vishwakarma Jayanti (Vishwakarma Puja) was observed on Thursday, 17 September 2026, coinciding with Kanya Sankranti — the Sun's entry into Virgo.
Artisans, engineers, factory workers and craftspeople worship their tools and machines in honour of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect in Hindu tradition.
It is observed most widely in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and Tripura.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme for traditional artisans was launched on Vishwakarma Jayanti, 17 September 2023 — the day is also its third anniversary.
