The current account deficit forecast was sharply narrowed to 1.4% of GDP from 2.1%, aided by stronger exports.
For FY28 the panel sees 7% growth with 4.5% inflation — a combination economists call a 'Goldilocks' economy.
The RBI's own August 2026 policy projection of 6.7% for FY27 remains 0.1 percentage point above the panel's.

A Goldilocks economy grows fast enough to support jobs and incomes, but not so fast that it overheats and pushes inflation up. The FY28 combination the panel projects — 7% growth alongside 4.5% inflation — is why the term is being applied to India's outlook. Note that 4.5% would still sit above the RBI's medium-term target of 4%, though within the tolerance band.
