The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched 'Friends of MY Bharat', a digital module that lets youth of Indian origin living abroad register on the Mera Yuva Bharat platform.
It was unveiled by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse at the inaugural ceremony of the BRICS Youth Summit 2026 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
A 'Digital Compendium of Volunteering Practices' was released at the same ceremony.
Registered members get volunteering opportunities in education, environmental protection, health awareness, disaster relief and cultural preservation, and a curated 'Know Your India' section.
MY Bharat, launched by the Prime Minister on 31 October 2023, had crossed 2.22 crore registrations by July 2026.

India holds the BRICS chairship for 2026 and will host the 18th BRICS Summit; the Youth Summit at Gandhinagar is part of that calendar, and launching a diaspora-youth module there was a deliberate signal.
The Ministry of External Affairs already runs a diaspora-youth engagement programme that brings young people of Indian origin to India on structured visits; 'Friends of MY Bharat' works the other way, reaching them digitally where they live.
Observed on 9 January, the diaspora's flagship engagement event; the new module gives its younger constituency a year-round channel rather than a periodic one.
MY Bharat is framed as the youth-participation arm of the Viksit Bharat goal, and the new module widens the pool it can draw on.
