Pranesh M is a Grandmaster from Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. He completed the Grandmaster title in January 2023 by winning the Rilton Cup in Stockholm, becoming India's 79th Grandmaster, the first from Karaikudi and the 28th from Tamil Nadu. His earlier norms came at the Sunway Sitges Open in 2021 and at the Asian Continental Championship in 2022. Nagykanizsa, in south-western Hungary, hosts the Kanizsa Open every year, and it is one of the European open events on which young Indian players build rating and title norms during the summer circuit.
