The International Cricket Council removed Sri Lanka Cricket's hosting rights for the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy on 30 August 2026.
The reason is government interference: Sri Lanka Cricket has been run by a government-appointed Transformation Committee since April 2026 instead of an elected board.
The six-team T20I tournament stays in its original window of 14 to 28 February 2027, but will be played elsewhere.
The replacement host is expected to be confirmed at the ICC Board meeting in October 2026, with India seen as the frontrunner.
This is the second global event Sri Lanka has lost over the same issue - the 2024 Men's Under-19 World Cup was moved to South Africa.
