India handed over the first consignment of components for a 70-metre Bailey bridge to Nepal's Road Division at Hetauda on 12 September 2026.
The bridge is meant to restore connectivity at Betrawati in Nuwakot district, cut off by the flash floods of 26 August 2026 in the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli valley.
Most of Nepal's existing Bailey inventory consists of shorter spans, too short for the wider gaps the floods carved out.
The bridge is part of an Indian relief effort of more than 130 tonnes of material flown in on at least eight Indian Air Force aircraft since 26 August.

The Bhote Koshi rises across the border in Tibet, enters Nepal through the Rasuwagadhi crossing area and becomes the Trishuli, which flows south-west past Betrawati in Nuwakot district before joining the Gandaki system. Hetauda, where the components were handed over, lies south of Kathmandu in Makawanpur district. Langtang National Park, where the glacier collapsed, sits along Nepal's northern border with Tibet.
