Fish Production Reaches 197.75 Lakh Tonnes; 91.1% of Assessed Marine Stocks Found Sustainable

India's annual fish production rose from 147.25 lakh tonnes in 2020-21 to 197.75 lakh tonnes in 2024-25.
•
Marine product exports in 2025-26 stood at 19.72 lakh metric tonnes valued at Rs 73,890 crore, or USD 8.46 billion, shipped to over 128 countries.
•
As per ICAR-CMFRI's Marine Fish Stock Status of India (2022), 91.1% of the 135 assessed stocks in India's EEZ are at sustainable levels.

The Ministry of MSME and DPIIT signed an MoU on 5 August 2026 at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, to commercialise India's Geographical Indication products.
