The Bar Council of India issued a circular directing State Bar Councils not to enrol any 2026 law graduate of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, as an advocate 'until further orders'.
The circular followed a campaign by some students opposing the participation of Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant in the university's convocation.
The order was withdrawn within hours the same day, after BCI members concluded that the vast majority of the graduating batch had no part in the campaign.
