Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal set an annual target of 10 million international medical value tourists at Sanjeevani 2026, held within the Bharat Health Global Expo in New Delhi on 7 September 2026.
He said 3.5 million international patients had used Indian healthcare services over the past seven years.
He outlined a five-point action plan covering transparent pricing, hospital registration on the Heal in India gateway, treatment only in NABH-accredited hospitals, trained caregivers and interpreters, and expansion into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Support measures proposed include cashless payments, faster insurance claims and pre-travel teleconsultation for foreign patients.
Separately, Goyal announced 100% funding through the Bureau of Indian Standards for advanced testing equipment for domestic medical device manufacturers.
