Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood launched the RSVC-AMRIT platform, developed by NABARD with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA).
AMRIT is the digital backbone of the RuTAG Smart Village Centre (RSVC) ecosystem, supporting the full lifecycle from technology discovery and validation to deployment tracking, collaboration, monitoring and knowledge management.
NABARD, whose Chairman Dr. Shaji Krishnan V. attended the launch, currently supports 8 RSVCs and intends AMRIT to grow into a national repository of rural innovations, technologies and best practices.
India's problem in rural technology has rarely been a shortage of inventions. It is that a validated low-cost device built in one IIT laboratory is invisible to a village 900 km away, and the innovator has no way to know whether it was ever installed or whether it worked. RuTAG Smart Village Centres attack this physically, as village-level technology hubs that carry appropriate and affordable technologies from research institutions, innovators and startups to rural users. AMRIT adds the missing digital layer over that physical network: one place where technology discovery, validation, deployment tracking, collaboration, monitoring and knowledge management sit together, and where innovators, technology providers, startups, validators, accelerators, implementation partners, funding agencies, academic institutions and rural communities can find each other.
Simple Analogy: The RSVCs are the shops; AMRIT is the catalogue plus the delivery tracking that tells you what is on the shelf, whether it has been tried elsewhere, and whether it is still working.
