Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal set out a five-point action plan for medical value tourism at Sanjeevani 2026, held during the Bharat Health Global Expo 2026 in New Delhi.
He set a target of 10 million medical value tourists a year, against 3.5 million patients served over the past seven years, and said only NABH-accredited, verified and panelled hospitals should treat patients from abroad.
Speaking separately at the Pharma Machtech and Labnext Expo 2026, he urged the industry to use India's expanded FTA network and strengthen the medtech innovation and intellectual property ecosystem.
