The inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) opened on 7 September 2026 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar and runs to 10 September.
Themed 'Rang-e-Cinema', it is organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Jammu and Kashmir government with the National Film Development Corporation of India.
A total of 135 films from 41 countries were shortlisted for screening, with India leading at 64 films, followed by France with 13 and Iran with 8.
A floating cinema was set up on Dal Lake near the SKICC, letting audiences watch films from shikaras; the opening screening was the 1961 Kashmir-shot classic Junglee.
