The Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL) developed 4-inch silicon carbide wafers; GAETEC, Hyderabad has limited production capacity for GaN-on-SiC MMICs.

A new-to-science toad, Duttaphrynus phawngpui, was described on 13 September 2026 in the journal Taprobanica (Vol. 15, Issue 2).

It was found at about 2,144 m in Phawngpui National Park, Lawngtlai district, and is so far known only from this type locality.

It belongs to the Duttaphrynus stuarti species group of the true-toad family Bufonidae; its closest relatives are D. stuarti, D. chandai and D. dhara.

Incentive Scheme for Domestic PNG Connections Rewards Gas Firms with Cheaper APM Gas

The Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections, launched on 18 August 2026 and in effect from 1 September 2026, rewards city gas companies for adding active, billed household connections.

For every billed domestic connection above a fixed minimum per Geographical Area, a CGD entity gets an extra 200 SCM of low-priced domestic APM gas, replacing costlier LNG it buys for its CNG (Transport) segment.
•
The payback period on a household connection is expected to fall from about ten years to nearly three; the scheme runs in two tranches over six months.
